From the pages of 'Alexander the Great and the Quest for the Fountain of Immortality', the third in a series of greek traditional fairytales I've been illustrating for the past three years. In greek bookstores.
Oh my, this is quite pretty. The mermaid looks almost... like she's fallen in love with the lifeless face of the man that the statue resembles, giving it a sad tint because she'll never meet him. She seems rather alone. But on the over all it's a very lovely picture, the dark and light and all the sea-hued colors are great. ^^ *fav*
Oh, and most of all I love her eyes. Even though being one color solidly they express so much. You have really managed to capture something here, whatever the sole individual sees.
ok . . . nd latin translator says it means "Remember to die" . . . um . . . I give up.
I think that the deviation is a very interesting mix. I've never heard of those fairy tales, but it looks interesting. A Mermaid?
