Since both my PC and I have difficulty in dealing with broiling weather, I usually grab a towel and a sketchbook and head to the nearby beach to suffer accordingly.
'Awaiting' [link] was conceived in such an excursion almost a year ago. The first spread in a series of 14 illustrations that accompany a traditional fairy tale, would remain dormant between the pages of a salty sketchbook and a weary brain, up until I decided to tackle it last January.
A good month later I had half a Giga-byte of picture on my screen looking back at me. It was far from perfect but it was the closest I had ever come to what I initially had in mind. Was this the new direction I was meant to follow?
Very typically, I avoided making a decision. I kept finding excuses to keep things at a still, experimenting at the same time with smaller projects. In the meantime, and going against initial reservations, I had uploaded 'Awaiting' to DA and to the judgment of peers and fellow deviants. The feedback was positive, but I was still reluctant. Until yesterday.
Normally I will test my pictures in the short circle of family and friends if I'm lucky I might carry along my work-in-progress on a school visit. When 'Awaiting' received almost 6000 views in one day, it was a lot more than something to be merry about. It was a jump start.
I can't begin to thank you all, although I'm definitely going to give it a try in the coming weeks.
